We are looking to recruit a CAT 2 Inspection Engineer for various locations in the UK.  Our principal office is in Warrington, with other UK Offices in Aberdeen, Bristol, Derby, Edinburgh, Falkirk, Glasgow, Great Yarmouth, London and Stockton. Job Description

We are seeking  experienced inspectors to join our growing Industrial team to provide Inspection and Certification of pressurised static equipment e.g. vessels, tanks, piping, relief devices, to meet regulatory and client requirements.

You will be:-

  • Preparing and reviewing Written Schemes of Examination (WSE)
  • Identifying preparation requirements from the WSE
  • Examination in accordance with the WSE
  • Undertaking simple NDT – ultrasonic thickness checks, magnetic particle, dye penetrant
  • Coordination of NDT providers for extensive requirements or specialist methods,
  • Preparation of clear reports including photographs
  • Assessment of deterioration
  • Reviewing design calculations and sentencing defects
  • Coordinating repairs.
  • Participation in Risk Based Inspection studies

Requirements:- 

  • HNC/Degree Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (essential)
  • UKAS RG 2 In-Service Inspection of Pressure Systems (essential)
  • Incorporated Engineer status (desirable)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Eye for detail
  • Ability to accurately follow procedures
  • Understanding of engineering principles
  • Able to make and defend difficult decisions
  • Ability to interact and work with others
  • Mechanical Engineering background
  • Chemical and/or oil and gas sector experience (desirable)
  • Understanding of fabrication or repair of pressure equipment (desirable)
  • Experience of non-destructive examination techniques (desirable)
  • Man-management experience (desirable)

Successful applicants must meet the UKAS definition for category 2 inspection engineers as seen below:

Category 2. Incorporated Engineer as defined by Engineering Council or equivalent (e.g. appropriate HNC with relevant experience, (vocational qualification level 4) including at least 5 years’ experience within a relevant engineering discipline of which at least one year** shall have been spent working within an engineering discipline associated with the relevant field of inspection.
